I wrote recently about my plans to go to Global Noir. This is taking place in Chorleywood next Saturday (3rd October). Chorleywood isn’t particularly local to me, so it could be argued that I wouldn’t normally travel that far. However, the following day, only a few short miles away, the second Self-Pub Fest in-person event is taking place in Aylesbury, so that does help to make the journey worthwhile.

Self-Pub Fest is the brainchild of Morgen Bailey, and actually comprises a range of events that take place both online and in person across the year. Check out the website here for details of everything this covers. If you are an Indie author or like checking out books by authors who probably don’t have the profile of the household names, then there’s a good chance there’ll be something in the calendar that’ll be of interest. And you also won’t have to wait long to find one you’ll be interested in as there’s at least one event most weeks.

The big ones, though, are inevitably the in-person events. The first one was held in April, and I was fortunate enough to appear on a couple of panels there. More importantly, I got to meet fellow authors and readers. Some were new to me, others I’ve known for a while and it was good to catch up with them. New or old, it doesn’t matter. I always find mixing with readers and authors gives me a buzz, and reminds me of two key things: why I love the writing community (it’s just so supportive), and why I enjoy writing.

So, if you haven’t already booked to go to this event, and you’re not already otherwise engaged, why don’t you come along? The ticket prices won’t break the bank, and you’ll have a great time. Full details of the event can be found by clicking on the image below.

If you are going, please do come and say hello. I do like a chat.
