Events

During the course of each year, Graeme is involved in a variety of events. These vary from talks and book signings to literary festivals he’ll attend – either as a speaker or delegate – and more informal gatherings of authors and book bloggers. If it’s possible for you to be there yourself, he’d be delighted to meet you and talk all manner of things bookish – and sometimes just all manner of things.

The following is a list of the events he is currently due to attend. It includes dates, details of the venue, and whether it’s open to all – and, if not, who is eligible to go. Where tickets are required, details of how to get them are given.

This list will be updated on a regular basis, so do keep checking.

This is a monthly event for a small group of local authors, but is open to anyone who is already published, is working on a book, or has aspirations to write. The group also work together to generate opportunities to promote their work, including arranging talks and attendance at literary events. Meetings currently start at 10:30am on the first Wednesday of each month at The Glasshouse, Retford, Notts.

If you’re interested in coming along, feel free to contact me.

Thursday 7th July - Newark Book Festival

Book Festivals are important. They serve a variety of purposes, from presenting opportunities for readers to meet favourite authors – and discover new ones – to boosting the local economy.

Newark Book Festival is in its seventh year and has grown from covering a weekend to a four-day event – with ancillary, pop-up events spread more widely around the district. For more information about the Festival as a whole, check out the website. For the Festival Programme, check here.

Graeme is volunteering at the Book Festival this year, and will be around each day of the event, as well as accompanying the Retford Authors Group on their stall in the Festival Market on the Saturday and Sunday.

On the afternoon of 7th July, Graeme will be assisting at the Festival Bookstall in Newark Town Hall. Otherwise, you might just catch him drifting around taking in the atmosphere.

If you specifically want to meet up, you can contact Graeme via Twitter or Facebook.

Friday 22nd July - Sunday 24th July - Harrogate Crime Festival

The Harrogate Crime Festival is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) events in the calendar for those serious about crime fiction. Readers, authors, publishers and anyone else with a vague link to this genre tend to show up. With guest speakers that have included the greats – James Patterson, Lee Child, Ian Rankin, Harlan Coben are only a handful of the high profile authors who’ve appeared in recent years – and a range of other events across the four days, this festival is a must for crime fans.

In spite of not having published any crime fiction yet, Graeme is a big fan and expects to put that right before too long. Specific dates have yet to be confirmed, but Graeme will be in attendance over at least two days during the festival, and is looking forward to catching up with old friends and hoping to make new ones.

If you want to know more about the Festival, check out their website.
