About a week ago, I put out a warning not to buy a copy of the Renegade paperback. You can check the full post here. However, the essential part was about how I’d cocked up in the setting up of the paperback and had inadvertently published it when all I really wanted at that stage was a proof copy to check.

The issue came to light when someone enthusiastically let me know she’d ordered a copy. What happened next is something I still find bewildering. I set everything up and requested my proof on the Friday. She put her order in on the Sunday. And yet she received her copy at least three days before the proof arrived. How does that work?
Anyway, it seems that only one other person has seen fit to ignore my plea, so there are two rogue copies out there. Fortunately, having just completed reading the paperback this morning – yes, I am getting a little bit bored with it, but I have read it three times in as many weeks – I am delighted to say there were very few issues that needed fixing. Most will go unnoticed, but I suspect the fact that there is a second Chapter Seven and no Chapter Eight might jar a little. For those who bought a copy, though, should I ever become lauded for being the talented author that I am, the fact that there are only two with those errors will make them collectors items. It should offer some consolation.
In the last half hour, I have uploaded the necessary revisions, so unless you’re particularly prompt in submitting an order to Amazon, you will now only receive a 100% correct version. (And if you believe I managed to pick up on every mistake, you have a lot more faith in my proofing abilities than I do!)
The official launch date was supposed to be this coming Friday, 10th April. So ordering now does actually mean you get an advanced copy. Not that I’d encourage that at all. Though if you knew what was waiting for you within those pages, you might just be tempted.
Fellow crime writer, Chris McDonald, had the following to say about it:
From the explosive opening chapter, Renegade, and Rand Scott, had me hooked. Graeme Cumming writes with a cinematic flair, populating his story with vivid, memorable characters – some you find yourself rooting for almost against your will. Darkly funny, sharp and gripping, Renegade is a novel that deserves to leap straight past the TBR pile and into your hands.
And I didn’t even buy him a pint…
If you don’t trust the police, there’s only one place to go
The death of an old acquaintance drags Rand Scott back to a life he’d left behind.
A police investigation is going nowhere and a grieving wife wants answers.
Putting minds at rest should be easy, and it gets him away from the city.
But factory farms and animal rights activists can be a toxic combination.
And Rand soon discovers a world where violence is the only common language.
